Working Group Goals

We propose a two-step synthesis approach. Phase 1 involves using complementary strategies to integrate continental-scale molecular observations to generate environmental niche models for soil fungi. It will allow us to identify climate change variables to which fungi are most sensitive, predict range shifts under new climates, and identify fungi most vulnerable to climate change. In Phase 2, we will synthesize data from manipulative climate change experiments and compare the magnitude of response to these manipulations with predicted responses to similar degrees of climate change from models developed in Phase 1.
