Tim Wallington, research specialist with the Center for Sustainable Systems, was appointed as a member of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Environmental Effects Assessment Panel (EEAP). The panel informs the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on matters arising from ozone depletion. 

The panel's latest assessment addresses the degradation of plastic debris in the environment, and particularly the effect of solar UV radiation and other environmental factors on the formation of micro- and nano-plastic particles.
