The Students for SEAS Outstanding Teaching Awards were established by the student governing board in 1995 to recognize teaching excellence. This year's award recipients are Professor Kyle Whyte and graduate student advisor Malulani Castro.
Students were asked to nominate professors and GSIs by writing 150-300 words about how they went above and beyond in their teaching responsibilities and why they are deserving of this award. Members of the student governing board then applied a pre-existing rubric to the submissions for the awards. The anonymized submissions were individually scored and averaged. Factors that were considered in the selection process included subject expertise, connection with students, and flexibility/openness to feedback.
Congratulations to Kyle and Malulani!
