A project focused on renewable energy deployment in Nepal and led by University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) researchers has been chosen as a Catalyst Grant recipient by the Graham Sustainability Institute.
SEAS Professor Pam Jagger is the principal investigator and SEAS Lecturer Rajiv Ghimire is the co-investigator of the project, “Energizing Nepal: Developing a Research Agenda to Guide Sustainability Transitions.” They will study the rapid development of hydropower across Nepal and its implications for society, the economy, and the environment, producing a report that will inform future energy research.
Since 2017, Graham has provided sustainability catalyst grants to 40 interdisciplinary sustainability research projects at U-M. The grants are open to all faculty and researchers across U-M’s three campuses. Chosen research teams will receive $10,000.
