About the Urban Sustainability & Justice Faculty and Community Fellows Program
The Urban Sustainability & Justice Faculty and Community Fellows Program is a pilot program launched by the SEAS Sustainability Clinic in January 2025. The program invites one academic scholar from an external college or university and one local community leader to collaborate on community-based climate solutions in Ann Arbor and Detroit. Both fellows will spend a portion of the winter 2025 semester in residence in Ann Arbor and Detroit, sharing insights and engaging with U-M’s and Detroit’s multidisciplinary and multisectoral communities, hosting public lectures, and meeting with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to advance urban sustainability and community-based climate action.
Dr. Lemir Teron (pictured below at left) is an associate professor at the Howard University Department of Earth, Environment and Equity, and will serve as the Clinic’s inaugural faculty fellow. Mr. Juan Shannon (below right) is the Executive Director of the Parker Village Foundation, and will serve as the inaugural community fellow. To learn more about the fellows program and our 2025 fellows, please read our Urban Sustainability & Justice Faculty and Community Fellows press release.
The fellows' visit dates and public activities will be announced on this page soon, and added to the SEAS events calendar.
