Geospatial Data Sciences Courses and Requirements (PDF)
Summary of requirements:
- Two (2) GDS core courses: EAS 531 (GIS) and EAS 541 (Remote Sensing)**
- 6 credits of GDS elective coursework
- EAS 509 Ecology: Concepts and Applications and EAS 510 The Science and Practice of Social Change or course(s) from the Social Systems Distribution list. Students without a background in the social sciences are asked to complete 510. Those with a strong understanding of the social sciences are instead asked to complete one 3-credit course -or- a combination of courses equaling a total of at least 3 credits (e.g. two 1.5 credit courses) from the Social Systems Distribution list (in place of 510)
- Two (2) courses totaling at least three (3) credits from the approved list of Integrated Analytic Methods & Skills (IAMS) courses
- One statistics course from the approved list
- Graduate-level electives (400-level or higher) from additional GDS courses or other EAS areas
- EAS Capstone
- Minimum 25 EAS credit hours
- Minimum 42 total credit hours

**Students can petition to place out of one of these two courses if they have already had an advanced course in the topic. GeoSci students do need to take either EAS 531 or 541.
