Scott Jackson
Scott Jackson is a PhD candidate on the Ecosystem Science and Management track in Karen Alofs’ lab. He received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University’s residential college of Lyman Briggs in Zoology and studied Ecosystem-Based Fisheries Management for his master’s from the University of Washington. Prior to starting at the University of Michigan, Scott worked at the USGS Great Lakes Science Center assisting in monitoring fish populations and habitat restoration success in the St. Clair-Detroit River System. He has also worked as a field biologist for Herpetological Resource and Management conducting surveys and monitoring reptile and amphibian populations throughout the Midwest. Scott’s current research is focused on the sources and implications for intraspecific variation in fish populations’ physiological responses to climate change. In order to mechanistically understand how fish respond to alterations in temperatures, Scott employs multiple methods including respirometry, transcriptomics, proximate composition, and bioenergetics modeling.
