Michigan clean energy bills signed by Gov. Whitmer: U-M experts available to comment
University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) experts are available to comment on the clean energy bills signed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Nov. 29.
Liesl Eichler Clark, U-M's director of climate action engagement; Jonathan Overpeck, dean of SEAS; and Michelle Martinez, inaugural director of the Tishman Center for Social Justice and the Environment at SEAS, can weigh in on the package of bills, which will position Michigan as a leader in clean energy production, while reducing emissions and creating new jobs.
"With the governor's signature on the recently passed clean energy legislation, Michigan has leveled up our commitment to a strong, equitable and resilient clean energy economy and will tackle the climate crisis as only a Midwestern industrial state can," said Clark. "This legislation will create high-quality jobs, and the University of Michigan is already off to the races to partner in building the diverse, inclusive workforce needed to power the future.
