2025 Black Graduate Research Symposium

We're looking for scholars interested in presenting research or facilitating discussions around this year's theme: 'Illuminating Our Black Joy: Protecting Pathways of Growth, Healing, and Academic Flourishing'.
We recognize that not everyone on campus gets the opportunity to share their progress, discuss their achievements and concerns, and develop their skills in an environment that is both supportive and comfortable. Thus, this event is intended to address the ways in which our research, and our positions as scholars are constantly undervalued and de-centered in 'traditional' academic environments.
The BGSA symposium is a low-stakes space for those interested in presenting their work in the form of poster sessions and oral presentations, as well as for those interested in facilitating workshops or panel discussions surrounding their personal topics of interest or related in general to academic development.
Our goal is to center you and your scholarly passions.
Need to practice a research talk? Have a topic you want to discuss with a community that shares your investments? Have a skill you want to share in a workshop? Want to simply drop off a poster with us in order to receive feedback?
